MOUNTAIN
Mountain was the record label of Bill
Fehilly's 'Mountain Management' company. The label's most successful
act was
Nazareth, who took the label into the Singles Charts six times between 1975 and
1979, The Sensational
Alex Harvey Band (1976) and Voyager (1978) also registered
in the Top 40. Sadly, Fehilly died in a plane crash in 1976.
The company which
he founded kept going until the early 1980s. Initially manufacturing and
distribution were by
EMI, latterly Phonogram / Phonodisc took over, and
introduced injection-moulded labels. The catalogue
numbers, which were
in a TOPS-0 series, remained unchanged at the takeover.
